The SW monsoon has finally set in Kerala. Start May 26th, the rain dance is here to stay for another 2 months. In childhood, i have always looked at Monsoon rains with respect but in distant fear as it may finish you, wash you off, with Noah 's ark nowhere in sight. Though the immense misery it causes to the poor, to their homeland and to their dwellings and the homeless who sleeps on footpaths, begging for the bigger human beings, the fortunate ones or the govt. to take care, nothing can stop the deluge. Dad has told me the early times of his-story how they used to spend the whole rainy and stormy night on a cot floating in the rain water, holding banana leaves over the head, watching wriggling tiny catfish that springs from the earth called` ootha koory' in malayalam.
On the larger picture, the amazing vegetation it springs up, the power that it can generate, an abundant agricultural harvest it can reap, the total economy of a nation it can turnaround, or the romance that Monsoon can provide and the list is endless. The Monsoon is one of the golden gift of God.
Even the power tower seems to glee in pleasure for the full load it can carry to an ever power starved state.
